This is a less than 150 word book review. No ratings, just a narrative review.
A fascinating book that weaves together a motorcycle adventure, observations on mechanical work, deep philosophy and struggles with mental health. The weaving is not done chapter by chapter but instead sentence by sentence. It was a delightful read that made me both want to get out on my motorcycle while also ponder more deeply how I live my life.
There are some uncomfortable moments. Some moments where you wonder where this is all going. Readers will probably find areas they don’t relate to or don’t agree with, and in my opinion that’s OK. It’s not a book that reveals all the answers. Instead it shares the experience of one mans path. But, while doing this it leaves the reader with nuggets that are immediately applicable as well. I’ll leave you with one:
“It’s not the technology that’s scary. It’s what it does to the relations between people… that’s scary.”
